Releasing Grudges

One of my close friends has two family members who are dying. Because of some past arguments, several adult siblings in this family refuse to speak to each other. Still. Even though two of them will shortly be gone from this earth. They have shut each other out permanently, and neither side will release their anger and forgive.

I understand anger and hurt. Pretty much everyone has experienced hurt from a friend or family member. But is it worth hanging onto that anger, even when the one who hurt you is dying? And the ones who are dying won’t let go of the anger either. They will leave this earth still feeling angry at their siblings. What is the sense?

Life is too short. Don’t let grudges fester in your heart. Tell your loved ones how you feel. If you’re angry, tell them you’re angry. But talk to them. Keep them in your life if you can. It’s the love that counts, not the arguments.
