If you’ve spent a fair amount of time in a lack mind-set, you may have developed underlying beliefs that perpetuate the cycle – keeping you stuck!
How do you know if you have a belief system based on lack?
I was reading an interesting discussion in a business forum recently that debated whether it was better for a person to take a giant leap or baby-step their way into starting a business.
Many people had a strong belief that a person needs a fire under their butt in order to really succeed, and a leap of faith is the only way to force themselves to do it. Others felt that such rash action would be sheer suicide, leading only to financial ruin and regret.
In my house, there is an unspoken rule: never take the last one. Of anything.
The last bagel, the last serving of milk, the last slice of cake, the last ear of corn . . . it will sit there and rot before anyone will take it for themselves.
I’ve seen this at parties and gatherings too. Guests will eat all the appetizers you place in front of them – until there is only one left on the platter. Then everyone is mysteriously too full to eat another bite.
Most of us have experienced plenty of endings in our lives. Sometimes they were situations and relationships that we were glad to be rid of, and sometimes . . . not so much.
Either way, endings hurt. With them comes a feeling of loss, emptiness and aimlessness that leads us to ask, “What now?”
As painful and sad as endings might be, they ALWAYS come with an opportunity for a fresh start. The closing of one door causes more to open.
If you are still talking about what you did yesterday, you haven’t done much today. – Author Unknown
As you can probably tell from my recent burst of activity, I’ve got some new goals in mind. They’re not even “new” goals really, just re-defined, re-clarified, and jumpstarted again.
If you’ve never done this before, it is a POWERFUL, INVIGORATING process.
How do you like the new blog theme? Gorgeous, eh? I can’t take credit, it came like this and I just had to install it.
I’m hoping this new blog format will be much more versatile than the old blogger format. If nothing else I’ll have more control over it.
Some neat features to check out if you’re not familiar with WordPress blogs:
While I was out running errands yesterday, I passed a car with a distinctive vanity license plate. It read: “IM BROKE”.
I couldn’t help myself, I gasped in horror!
Why would a person label themselves with such a dire self-fulfilling prophecy?
