Gratitude: Endings to New Beginnings

Endings are always hard, whether they involve relationships, jobs, change of residence or anything else. When our comfortable circumstances change, we suddenly find ourselves feeling unsettled and aimless.

What now?

A gratitude focus can help you make these transitions smoother, more purposeful – and way less frightening.

You Can’t Please Everyone

No matter how much we all want to be liked and accepted, it’s impossible to please everyone all the time.

Have you ever tried? If you’ve got any people-pleasing tendencies, you know the immense pressure that results from them. You run around in circles, walk on eggshells, trying to be everything that everyone expects you to be. And the harder you try to meet everyone’s expectations, the less pleased they seem to be.

Commemorate 9/11 with a good deed

I just noticed a good article on Yahoo that shares ideas for commemorating 9/11 with good deeds.

What a nice thing to do!

The Giant Within You

I came across a great quote that stirred me up this morning:

“There is a giant asleep within every man. When that giant awakens, miracles happen.” Frederick Faust

We tend to think of ourselves in very limited ways sometimes. Besides forgetting the immense power that each of us has, we also tend to forget our wisdom and live our lives in a fog of forgetfulness.

It’s the Journey that Counts

When most of us set a goal or try to improve our lives in some way, we focus only on the end result we want to achieve. We see it shimmering in the distance like the Promised Land, our own personal utopia.

We fantasize about how much better our lives will be when we reach our goal, and we can’t WAIT to get there!

How to be Happy

Are you happy? Really, truly happy? Not many people can say they are. Some people would probably describe themselves (or their lives) as completely miserable, while others would say they are mostly happy – but not about everything.

What do you think you would need in order to become completely happy? A lot of money? Better friends? More success? A thinner body?

How about: A CHOICE?

There is Always a Way

Do you ever find yourself being held back by excuses? Here’s how it usually goes:

You decide you want something, but then your mind starts spitting out all the reasons why you can’t have it or achieve it.

I don’t have enough time.
I don’t have enough money.
I’m not talented enough.
I don’t know how to proceed.
What if I fail?
I’m crazy for even considering this goal.
