Law of Attraction: Theory to Practice

Posted at 11:35 am under Abraham Hicks, Law of Attraction

The other day someone contacted me privately and asked a GREAT question about the Law of Attraction: How do you go from theory to practice?

In other words, this person believes in the Law of Attraction but is having a hard time putting it into actual practice in daily life. How exactly do you do that?

Here was my response:

Excellent question! Theory to practice, love the way you put that.

Okay, there are 2 things I would suggest. Actually 3. These are what popped into my mind first:

1) Getting super-clear about what you want. Maybe you’ve already done this, but I know I have a much harder time seeing results when I keep waffling back and forth not being really sure about what I want. I might have a vague idea of what I want (and a stronger I idea of what I DON’T want!) but only when I really take time to think it all out and ask myself what I would choose if I could have ANYTHING right now, what would it be? - that’s when I start to see and feel a shift. So if you haven’t done that, do that first.

2) Then, start “being” the person who already has it. When I say “being” I’m referring to your mental and emotional state. Example: You’re working at a job you hate and you desperately want a better job doing something you love. You’ve got a vision in your mind of what you want, but you continue to live from the perspective of a person who works at a job they hate. All day you radiate feelings of dissatisfaction, boredom, frustration, despair, etc. - those feelings will interfere with the attraction of what you want! However, if you begin thinking, feeling and acting like someone who truly LOVES what they do, you’ll attract work that you really do love!

Believe me, I know that’s hard to do, but every time I’ve done it, amazing things happen. It just takes a lot of willpower to first shift your focus, and then things start happening.

And by the way, you probably won’t be able to do a complete shift right away. What usually happens for me is I waver back and forth between the old reality and the new reality (mentally and emotionally), but as time goes on I find myself staying with the new perspective more and more. Eventually I don’t have to work so hard at it, it just becomes my “real” reality!

3) Finally, I would suggest taking some kind of action to help get the process moving. With most objectives, there is at least a small action or two you can do on your own. This not only helps get the energies moving in the right direction, but it also helps YOU feel more in control, more positive, more optimistic, etc.

Make a point of working WITH the universe, rather than trying to do everything on your own. Tell the universe, here is what I want, and here is what I can do on my end, here is what I’d like you to do for me, thanks! :-) (Like the Abraham Hicks placemat process) It works!

Hope that helps, but if any of what I said doesn’t apply to your situation, just let me know. Generally those are the 3 things I do to move past the wall between energy and matter! ;-)

Law of Attraction: Step by Step
Using the Law of Attraction successfully is all about learning how to create your experiences by altering the "frequency" you send out to the universe. This frequency is a mixture of the content of your thoughts, emotions, beliefs and expectations. All of these things must be aligned in order to use the process effectively or you will probably see mixed results. Read more
