Well Hellooooooo there . . . !

When you work at home you deal with plenty of distractions but I sure didn’t expect to get THESE distractions today! :-)

I was working in my office this morning, which is at the back of the house. Suddenly I heard a loud CRASH! out on the deck in back. Usually when I hear that it’s a neighborhood cat or racoon causing trouble - but today I looked out and saw three BEARS on our deck, ransacking our bird feeder!

It was a Mama and two goods-sized cubs. They stayed awhile (long enough to empty the bird feeder) so I was able to get some decent pictures.

Animal Control to the rescue! They chased the bears away.

So much for our bird feeder! They ripped it right off the pole. :-)

We live in a suburban area that has plenty of woods surrounding it, so we’re no strangers to bears, deer and smaller critters. In fact the bears have been using our yard as a pass-through to other areas for some time. But until today they didn’t notice our bird feeder.

Guess the birds will be out of luck for awhile, I can’t put the feeder back up now that the bears know it’s there. They’ll just keep coming back. The birds will have to be satisfied with a few seeds scattered on the lawn for awhile! :-)

For years Mama had seethed at the audacity of the girl. It had eaten away at her until she could take it no longer.

“Magnum P.I.”, said the man on the phone “can I help you?”

“Yeah,” Mama growled “I’ve got a tracing assignment for you”.

Mama knew the girl would have changed her name, got married and probably had altered her appearance by changing the give away blonde locks for something darker. Still, she knew Magnum would find her.

“This will stop her stealing our porridge won’t it Mama?” said Baby Bear stuffing another paw full of Goldilocks’ bird food into his mouth.

The moral of this story is that you should never help yourself to the Three Bears porridge, they’ll only track you down and trash your bird feeder!

P.S. Wendy, it’s good to see The Littlest Editor has got you doing photo-journalism now :-)

ROFLMAO!!!! Nigel, that gave me such a great laugh today, thanks! I actually thought you were a spammer when I first started reading your comment - I was like, “What, now they’re quoting novels to me??? Oh wait, it’s NIGEL!” LOL!!! You are one funny guy! :-)

P.S. My local newspaper is going to publish these pictures, so the bears can’t be too incognito anymore. There are a lot of small children in this neighborhood, so I figure the parents should know what might be lurking in their backyard! ;-)

    Hi Wendy,

Wow! When I first saw this article I was going to go to the comments and write “So where are the photos?” and there they were! And such great ones too. Way cool!

A little scary too though. Eeek. The thought of coming home late at night and tripping over the bears…

BTW, bought your “visualizing prosperity” ebook and LOVE it! Once I’ve worked with it for a little while, I’ll send you a testimonial.

Thanks Elisabeth! I’ve been thinking about you lately but been swamped so haven’t done much about it! We’ll connect soon! :-)

Yes, it is a little unnerving knowing that these big critters may be lurking about, but thankfully for the most part they seem to be very peaceable. I’ll have no problem granting the right-of-way to them if our paths should ever cross! LOL

[...] the lawn is looking much greener, finally. You can see in the bear photos I took on March 28 that everything was still very brown and dead-looking. Not [...]
