A funny thing happened when I attracted . . .

Oh, the irony of the Law of Attraction! LOL :-)

A couple of days ago I was thinking about my ebooks, and considering re-writing them, or maybe expanding them, or maybe even re-working them into full-blown step-by-step courses.

I get a fair number of emails from people telling me that the books helped them, that I explain everything very simply and they finally “get it.” That’s great to hear! But then I also get emails from people who still experience a disconnect. They’re not sure how to go about attracting something they want, or “fixing” the problems they’re currently dealing with.

So, of course, those kinds of emails always make me doubt my work. Is it good enough? Is it helpful enough? Maybe I need to do more for my customers? (Probably most writers know exactly what I’m talking about with this whole self-doubt thing! :-) )

WELL - isn’t it funny the way the universe sometimes manifests these types of thoughts?

Today I got an email that made my mouth drop open. I’ll paraphrase:

“Hi, love your articles, love your site but I ordered your book and it didn’t come thru. Are you for real, or just another rip-off artist?”

YIKES!

I looked into this person’s order and saw that he paid with an e-check through Paypal. My shopping cart system is set up so that the download details aren’t sent until an e-check clears, which takes 3-5 business days through Paypal.

This has happened before too! The first few times, I sent the book out anyway because some people were so offended by having to wait. Trying to appease them, I sent the orders anyway. Can you guess the outcome? Their checks never cleared and they immediately stopped responding to my emails requesting payment.

In the big picture, I don’t care really. I figure if they’re so desperate to get something for free, they probably need the money more than I do. But since that happened, I no longer send out orders until e-checks have cleared. What’s that old saying, “Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.”

But to be accused of being a rip-off artist by this latest person, geez!

My point is, did my own self-doubt bring this on? Sure it did! I don’t feel like I’m ripping people off; no, it’s not that. I know my work is quality, and I put my heart and soul into those books. But my own doubts about my work (and maybe myself?) sure did contribute to the manifestation of this situation.

I think today I’m going to put on my super-critical glasses and re-read my books and take notes about any new ideas I get. Maybe I can come up with ways to improve these products and appease my perfectionistic side - or maybe I’ll be led in a whole new direction, who knows? :-)

Lesson learned: Never entertain negative thoughts about yourself, your work, your life or anything else - because they WILL find a way to manifest in your life! :-)
