Seemingly overnight, my surroundings have gone from boring brown to gorgeous GREEN! We’ve had some warm days along with heavy rain, and that has made all the vegetation spring to life. My husband even did the first lawn cutting of the season the other day.
Green leaves sprouting everywhere:

Our neighbor’s majestic maple tree:

The azalea my in-laws gave me (to be planted this weekend!):

The pretty pole I bought to hang my Mom’s petunias:

Even the lawn is looking much greener, finally. You can see in the bear photos I took on March 28 that everything was still very brown and dead-looking. Not anymore!
It may seem silly to be grateful for something so trivial, but Spring has always held great symbolic meaning for me.
It’s much more than the pretty colors and warmer weather - Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal. A time to shed old, limiting thoughts and emerge as a brand new, refreshed person after being cooped up all Winter long. It’s a time to set new goals, conceive new dreams and let your heart and mind soar.
Yesterday afternoon I wasn’t motivated to work so I grabbed a good book and sat on the deck for a few hours. I watched the chipmunks play, listened to the birds sing and let the warm breezes clear my head.
And the whole time, two simple words kept bubbling up from within me over and over again: thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you…
