Creating a Vision Board

A vision board is one of the most powerful tools you have at your disposal when working with the law of attraction. The reason for this is simple – seeing a daily reminder of your intentions and desires will keep your thoughts focused on them regularly, and the more you focus on them the more you will begin to attract them into your life.

So what exactly is a vision board, and how do you make one?

There are different ways to make a vision board, but one of the simplest ways is to buy a cork board, dry erase board, or even a sheet of poster board. Now gather a stack of old magazines, newspapers, personal photographs, brochures or any other source for photographs, and start cutting out pictures that represent things you want to attract into your life.

The pictures can be literal representations, like a photo of the exact make and model car you want; or they can be symbolic, like a photo of a man and woman embracing to symbolize your own loving relationship. Try to use pictures that are as close as possible to the essence of what you want.

Avoid using pictures that don’t quite resonate with you – for example, if you have your heart set on a red sports car, don’t use a picture that features a yellow one. A small thing like color shouldn’t matter, right? Actually it might, because you will keep focusing on a yellow car instead of a red one and the universe just might deliver a yellow one (poor baby, that would be so terrible, wouldn’t it? *grin*). Still, try to choose pictures that represent your true desires.

Once you have all of your pictures picked out, now start sticking them on the board. For a cork board you can use thumb tacks, but for poster board or a dry erase board you may want to use glue or tape. Arrange the photos any way you like, and you can also insert clippings of words or phrases that inspire you, stickers, etc.

When your vision board is complete, find a prominent place to hang it. Hanging or standing it in the place where you meditate would be ideal, so you could sit and gaze at the images as part of your meditation/visualization practice. Other good spots might be in your bedroom, office, or den.

Then make sure you spend a few minutes daily looking at the pictures and thinking about how much you would love to have the objects/experiences portrayed in them. For example, if money is one of the things you are trying to attract, think about how it would feel to have a lot of money. Ditto with relationships, your dream job, car, vacations – whatever you would like to attract.

Tune into the FEELINGS of these things as you look at the pictures and imagine yourself having them. Allow feelings of happiness, excitement and gratitude to flow over you as you do, and you’ll be bringing yourself into alignment with the essence of these things and steadily attracting them to manifest in your life.

If you spend a lot of time at the computer, you may prefer to create an online vision board! This is a new site that allows you to do this, and it’s free. I created a vision board last night to see how easy it is to use and I had a blast with it.

One feature I adore is the ability to search Flickr for photos to use on your vision board! Or you can upload your own too.
