Expand Your Awareness, Energize Your Desire

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

By setting an intention to expand your awareness of what you really want, you energize it into being.

Try this exercise:

Think of something you want very much. Take a blank sheet of paper and a pen, and write, “I KNOW that _________ (your object or experience) is present in my life right now, and I choose to expand my awareness of it.”

Examples:

“I KNOW that great abundance is present in my life right now, and I choose to expand my awareness of it.”

“I KNOW that perfect health is present in my life right now, and I choose to expand my awareness of it.”

“I KNOW that a healthy, loving relationship is present in my life right now, and I choose to expand my awareness of it.”

Write your statement over and over and state it aloud as often as possible, letting your conviction build as you do.

In short order the Universe will shrug and say, “Okay, if that’s what you really want.”

Building Trust in Law of Attraction

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

The longer you work with the Law of Attraction, the more trust and belief you’ll have that it really works without exception. But what if you’re still fairly new to it and you’re having trouble believing and trusting that it does work? Won’t that affect the level of results you experience because you’re doubting? Yes, absolutely!

When you doubt, you put out a limiting belief to the universe, which will affect the strength of your signal. Rather than saying, “YES, I want this and I know I can have it,” you’ll be saying, “I want this but…”

Note the tone of hesitation, and that’s exactly what the universe hears when you express doubt. Because the universe will only give you what is in accordance with your beliefs, you need to find a way to build up your trust and belief that the Law of Attraction really works, even if you haven’t yet seen it for yourself.

There are several ways to do this, but here are 3 easy ways to get started:

Use past evidence.

So, your current desires haven’t manifested yet, but can you think of other times in your life where you may have attracted something you wanted (even if you didn’t know how you did it)?

Did you want a specific job and you sent out tons of energy and intention for it, and sure enough, you got it? Or perhaps you kept fantasizing about meeting the man (or woman) of your dreams and saw them in such detail in your mind’s eye – and were shocked beyond belief when you met someone who looked just like them?

I’m sure you can come up with dozens of examples like these! If you can’t think of any positive examples, think about negative ones. Have you ever been afraid that something would happen, and sure enough it did? Have you ever dreaded something or held negative expectations about it and pulled it into your life? These things may not be fun to think about, but they do provide a modicum of proof that the Law of Attraction works and they can lay a foundation for trust and belief to form.

Choose to believe anyway.

Even if you can’t think of a single example to provide proof, you can choose to trust that it works anyway. When you think about it, trusting the universe is no different than choosing to trust another person. When you first decide to trust someone, you have no idea whether they are actually trustworthy or not. You simply decide to trust them until they give you a reason not to. Do the same thing with the Law of Attraction!

Keep affirming.

Finally, build up your level of trust by constantly affirming that it does work and you’ll be seeing proof of it any day now. The more you recite statements like this, the more your subconscious mind will begin to believe them. Over time, you’ll realize that you really DO trust the Law of Attraction and you don’t have a shred of doubt anymore.

Here’s one good way to block abundance!

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

I’m still skimming back through my older manifestation journals, and I’m discovering some neat things I’d forgotten all about. Yesterday I found an entry about a big insight that I don’t think I’ve mentioned before, so I’d like to share it in case you might be doing the same thing and consequently blocking more abundance from flowing into your life.

One of the first things we learn about prosperity attraction is the importance of believing that we have more than enough money for everything we need. As we begin to truly believe this, more money flows into our lives. We might get a raise at work, or receive unexpected income from various sources. I’ve read a lot of cool stories about the creative ways the universe finds to deliver more abundance to people! ;-)

But did you know that it’s possible to hold such a belief and STILL struggle with money? That’s what I found myself doing several years ago. I wrote pages of notes in my journal trying to figure out how it was possible to see more money coming into my life in very obvious ways, yet still have trouble paying the bills each month!

I knew that the problem wasn’t with my mind-set. Each day I was focusing heavily on believing and knowing that I had plenty of money. And plenty of money flowed in each week. But by the end of the month, I struggled to have enough to pay the bills.

After about a week of pondering this mystery, in a huge flash of insight, I realized that my ACTIONS were not demonstrating a belief that I always had more than enough. Here’s what I caught myself doing:

Each month as bills came in, I didn’t pay them right away. I would set them aside because I wanted to be sure I had enough to cover the rent at the end of the month. And more often than not, by the end of the month I found that I didn’t have quite enough to cover everything.

Can anyone tell me why?

Two words: CONFLICTING SIGNALS!

All month long I was affirming to the universe that I always had more than enough money, but my ACTIONS were not reflecting that belief at all! Way in the back of my mind was a WORRY that I wouldn’t have enough to pay everything. So all month long, the universe kept hearing me say: “I always have more than enough money. But I might not have enough money to pay my bills.” AH HA!! Big light bulb moment there. ;-)

Once I realized I was doing that, I immediately changed my habits and started paying every bill when it came in. If I didn’t have the money to pay it immediately, I would take a red marker and write “PAID” on the front of the envelope and set it aside, affirming again that I always have enough money to pay my bills.

[One of my favorite affirmations was conceived during that time: "I always have more than enough money to pay my bills easily and on time."]

Before long I would receive the money to pay that bill, and the same thing happened week after week - and ironically, I was able to easily cover the rent too!

Once my ACTIONS were in line with my BELIEFS - I truly always had enough. (That’s a lesson I’ve had to learn a few times throughout my life actually - sometimes it’s easy to slip back into old habits if I’m not careful! ;-) )

So, if you find yourself in the same situation I was, if you’re visualizing and affirming until you’re blue in the face but STILL struggle with money, take a moment to consider what your ACTIONS might be conveying to the universe.

Are you afraid to spend money because you might not have enough? Are you afraid to give money because you might need it later for yourself? Do you hold back on buying things you need because you fear not having enough? (That’s another one I did for a long time. Even if I really needed something - like car repairs, clothing, groceries - I would still hold back on buying them until I made sure I had enough money for the bills at the end of the month. Not surprisingly, I usually didn’t have enough - for the bills OR the extra stuff!)

I eventually “got it” that the more I tried to hold my money back out of a fear of “not enough” the more I attracted the experience of not having enough! Once I started giving money and spending money fearlessly, I found myself ALWAYS having enough money to cover everything.

When I say “spending money fearlessly”, I don’t mean reckless spending. I don’t mean maxing out your credit cards or buying a bunch of stuff you don’t really need. But if you hold back on buying things you truly need because of a fear that you won’t have enough, you’re just sending a signal of lack to the universe.

Have faith in your heart and mind, and ACT with faith too. It’s a perfect recipe for Prosperity Pie! Who wants a slice? :-)

Law of Attraction - The Power to Choose

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

One of the greatest gifts we receive as deliberate creators is an awakening to our true power to choose our life experiences day to day. Most of us are used to living our lives in response to the things we see and experience in our external surroundings. When everything moves along smoothly for us, we feel good. When things go wrong, we feel bad. We are constantly on a roller coaster of up and down emotions. In other words, we tend to take a passive role in our daily lives, rather than a proactive one.

However, the more we study and apply the Law of Attraction consciously in our lives, the more we realize that our outer experiences are simply the RESULT of what we’ve been thinking and feeling.

For most of my early life, I remember wondering why life had to be so HARD all the time. Everything was a struggle for me. I faced constant obstacles no matter what I was trying to accomplish, and things rarely worked out like I wanted them to. I remember writing in my diary that I felt like everything was an uphill climb for me, and I wondered if I had been born under the influence some mysterious “curse” or something! ;-)

Looking back now, I can see so clearly that I was creating ALL of it. Every day I awoke with a sense of defeat in my heart, “knowing” that things wouldn’t work out for me that day. I envisioned all of the challenges I would probably have to face that day. I dreaded trying new things because I “knew” they would be difficult. I dreaded meeting new people because I “knew” they probably wouldn’t like me. (Do you see a pattern here? *grin*)

Of course, all of those expectations became self-fulfilling prophecies. I was born under the influence of a curse all right - one of my own making! It’s called Negativity.

My life today is so very different. I’m surrounded by miracles. Everything goes smoothly for me. Things work out the way I want them to. I’ve become one of those “lucky” people that receive great opportunities without having to lift a finger. I’m happy, healthy and prosperous.

What changed? MY FOCUS.

I finally awakened to the fact that I had the power to CHOOSE the experiences of my life. I finally realized that I’ve been choosing all along. So have you. We all have.

Since you are reading this article, you are probably familiar with the basics of the Law of Attraction. Perhaps you’ve even had some success using it in your own life. But if you still haven’t fully awakened to your power to consciously choose your day to day experiences, here are three powerful ways to get started doing so:

1) Expect the best, always.

When you awaken each day, think about the things you want to experience that day, and mentally live them as though they are happening now. Want to win the lottery? Visualize it! Want to meet some fun new friends? Visualize it! Want to receive a raise or promotion at work? Visualize it! There are NO LIMITS to the amazing “mind movies” you can create. As you visualize these wonderful things happening to you, you are actually shifting your vibrational frequency and moving yourself into alignment with them - and with other great things that you haven’t even imagined yet. Try it, it is a powerful exercise!

2) Ditch the negativity.

Fear, worry, doubt and other negative words should be stricken from your vocabulary altogether. Not only should you discard the words - discard the emotions that come along with them! If you catch yourself feeling or thinking negatively, do anything you can to shift back into a positive state of mind. Visualize something wonderful again, or do something that makes you feel happy. Be grateful. Be inspired. Consciously choose to be happy. It takes practice, but the more you focus on the positive, the more you’ll find yourself naturally being positive with less effort.

3) Do only what you can.

Allow the universe to work on your behalf! If you are one of those people who feels like everything rides on your shoulders and it’s “all up to you,” let go of that thought as quickly as you can. Begin affirming daily that a loving universe is helping you, guiding you and smoothing the path before you. You don’t have to do everything yourself! Do what you can, and then turn over the rest to the universe. You don’t have to work yourself to death or figure everything out yourself.

There is more to using the Law of Attraction deliberately of course, but these three steps are powerful in their own right. Even if you made no other changes than these three, you’d still be astounded by the changes it will create in your life.

More than anything else, it’s important to know that you are not a victim. You are not a passive observer. You have the power to choose. And you can exercise that power beginning now.

Law of Attraction, Beliefs & Worthiness

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

The longer I practice the art of deliberate creation in my life, the more aware I become of the massive limitations I have placed on myself over the years. You wouldn’t think that beliefs could be so powerful - after all, a belief is just a thought, right?

Actually, it’s a thought that has IMMENSE POWER. The power to mold and shape your life experiences like you wouldn’t believe. You won’t allow yourself to do, be or have anything unless you believe it’s possible.

When I look back over my life, I see an endless series of limiting beliefs that governed every area of my life. My career. My health. My relationships. My finances. My self-worth. My happiness. Sometimes I wish I could travel back in time and whisper to the girl I was, “Hey, you can break free from these dark thoughts - just switch your focus!” She probably wouldn’t listen anyway; she was pretty stubborn. :-)

Have you ever wished you could go back and do things differently? I often think, “Wow, where would I be today if I’d known how powerful I was years ago?” You’ve probably had similar thoughts about your own life.

Even though we can’t go back and do it over again, we can start fresh right NOW. Imagine ten or twenty years from now, looking back on your life and seeing immense growth and progress. Imagine the joy of knowing that you took control of where you were going and formed your life into a masterpiece of love, happiness, abundance and fulfillment!

Of course, before that can happen, you’ll need to take a good hard look at your limiting beliefs. I’ve been doing this for years and I don’t think I’ll be done any time soon - maybe ever. ;-) Every time I think I’ve cleared out all the “can’ts, won’ts, and what ifs” a new batch pops up and waves at me and I start the process all over again. The same thing may happen to you, but it’s still a powerful process that is well worth the effort.

To start, ask yourself: How have I been holding myself back? If I could truly create ANYTHING I wanted, what would it be - and why do I believe it’s impossible for me? Which inner voices keep me locked in a cycle of lack, dissatisfaction, turmoil and frustration? And which thoughts would override the limiting beliefs and begin to draw something better into my life?

Then begin choosing those thoughts as often as you can and turning your attention away from the old, limiting beliefs.

Once you get to the root of your limiting beliefs and begin transforming them, you may encounter another type of limiting belief - and for many people this is a doozy: LOW SELF-WORTH.

This belief has a voice too, and it usually repeats monotonously, “I don’t deserve to be wealthy, who am I kidding? Other people have it so much harder than I do, I should be giving everything I own to charity. I’ve got no business whining about not having enough money. When did I become such a wimp? So what if I hate my job and my relationships are falling apart and I have a lot of health problems? I need to stop all this daydreaming and face reality once and for all. This is my lot in life (or my cross to bear, etc).”

But sometimes this voice isn’t so obvious. Sometimes it’s much more subtle, like when it creates an underlying feeling of discomfort when you think about wanting to achieve a greater state of abundance. You may desire more money, bigger income, financial freedom and more - but you will only allow into your life the amount of money you believe you DESERVE.

Likewise for all other life experiences. It doesn’t matter how badly you want something; if you don’t believe you deserve to have it, you simply won’t allow it in. For that reason, it is also beneficial to spend some time exploring what you believe you deserve in all areas of your life.

Do you believe you deserve to be in a truly loving and harmonious relationship? Really? What about money and income? How much do you believe you deserve to have? What about where you live, the type of home and neighborhood you live in? What about your work? Do you believe you must work very hard to make ends meet? Do you feel resentful and disgusted by wealthy people who throw money around carelessly?

All of these thoughts and feelings are CLUES about what is happening within you; the beliefs that rule your life. Once you start exploring them you can easily identify the ones that may be holding you back and transform them - which will change the outer experiences of your life!

The good news is that the more you delve into these limiting beliefs, fears and doubts, the more proficient you will become at weeding them out and exchanging them for something better. Over time you’ll develop a powerful awareness of these “unwelcome houseguests” when they have taken up residence in your mind - and you’ll have the confidence to boot them right out the door! :-)

But your work STILL won’t be done yet. Once you’ve booted out some limiting beliefs, you’ll realize that you were holding limiting beliefs about your limiting beliefs, and limiting beliefs about your ability to boot out limiting beliefs, and limiting beliefs about your perception of your limiting beliefs… You’ll have an ever-increasing awareness that you can still do better, and better and BETTER yet!

Every moment will become a precious journey of evolvement - that will keep leading you to ever higher levels of joy, abundance and awe. It never ends. And you won’t want it to end! Once you release your fear, you realize that this process of evolvement is a whole lot of fun. Sometimes it’s wildly exciting, and sometimes you may get frightened and start thinking about a safe little hole you can hide in for awhile. :-) That’s okay too.

Be gentle with yourself. Move at your own pace. Enjoy the journey. Embrace the unfolding of a better you, a better life, an easier way of BEING. It’s wondrous and breathtaking, and you deserve every bit of it! You deserve to have everything you want. And you can if you just allow yourself to let go and open to it. Open your heart, open your mind, open your arms. Everything you desire is rushing toward you right now - just let it in.

Law of Attraction: Residual Negative Energy

Monday, April 21st, 2008

All right, finally I have a chance to continue on a topic I mentioned a few days ago: Weirdness and Law of Attraction.

As I’ve mentioned in my last several posts, I’ve been having some strange experiences lately. Black bears practically knocking on my back door, the brakes on my husband’s truck failing while I was driving it, and then a deer dashing in front of my car and narrowly missing leaving her butt-print on my windshield! ;-)

When things like this happen to Law of Attraction practitioners, their first response might be, “How am I attracting all of this? I’ve been keeping my thoughts and feelings in alignment with GOOD things, so what’s going on?”

In my experience, this is usually the result of residual negative energy.

Remember that we are always living the residual results of our PAST thoughts, feelings, beliefs and actions. So even if you’ve been “good” with your focus for weeks, it’s still possible to experience some negative things for awhile until that old negative energy plays through. I like to call it a “burning off” of the old to make way for the new! :-)

When I look back through my journals over the past few years, I can see very clear PATTERNS in my life’s manifestations! Here’s what it usually looks like:

1) I start with a negative situation.
2) I set an intention to attract something better.
3) I begin improving my thoughts, feelings and beliefs.
4) Things start to get better and I feel like I’m making progress.
5) Out of the blue, things start to go wrong again - sometimes in very bizarre ways!

Let’s stop here for a moment, because this is a pivotal stage. Depending on how I react to these “things going wrong,” different outcomes will ensue.

6a) If I slip back into my old, negative ways of thinking and feeling in reaction to these negative events, I will continue on a negative slide until I’m right back where I was in the original negative situation.

6b) BUT - if I refuse to invest energy and focus into the new, negative events and continue with positive thoughts, feelings and beliefs, the “bad stuff” eventually plays itself out and dissipates (usually within a few days, or sometimes weeks) - and I am suddenly thrust into MUCH better circumstances, usually through events that seem almost miraculous the way they come into my life.

Has this ever happened to you? I know it does happen to other people, but I don’t see it mentioned a lot. But it’s SO IMPORTANT to understand, especially if you’re new to working with the Law of Attraction.

When things start to go wrong again, it would be easy to think, “This stuff doesn’t work; I’m just wasting my time!” And if you do that, you’ll reverse all the positive energy you’ve sent out toward better circumstances. You need to keep pushing forward with your new, positive ways of thinking and being in order to fully burn off that old, negative residual energy.

How does this residual energy manifest? It can appear in any number of forms, but here are some of the forms I’ve experienced before:

- Illness
- Accidents
- Arguments
- Mechanical failure
- Electronic failure
- Financial upsets/emergencies
- Job loss
- Relationship meltdowns
- Depression
- Nightmares

And more - basically there are endless ways this negative energy can come through into your physical world, and sometimes it will happen in more than one way simultaneously! Like your car will break down AND you’ll lose your job around the same time. Or you’ll get sick AND your boss will demand that you put in a large amount of overtime - when you’d rather be home resting! Or your washing machine will break down, followed by your microwave, and your furnace! Yes, this negative residual energy can hit in more than one place at a time and pose a real threat to your new positive state of mind.

However, the important thing is how you REACT to these new, seemingly negative events. If you go back to thinking and feeling negatively, you’ll only exacerbate the problems. But if you can stay emotionally detached and just deal with them the best you can while still keeping your positive focus, the bad stuff will finish burning off and you’ll find yourself moving forward MUCH more quickly and easily! :-)

That’s where I am now. The weird experiences have stopped, my husband was able to fix the brakes on his truck at minimal cost (it was a brake line that cracked and broke open, spilling all the brake fluid out onto the road!), and some wonderful things have been happening that convince me I’m nearly ready to break through to the next level I’ve been focusing on. Soon I’ll be sharing those details with you, but not quite yet! ;-)

If you’ve been experiencing some residual negative effects, HOLD TO THE PATH! You’re almost there! As long as you don’t get all freaked out and “emotionally invested” in the negativity, it will pass sooner than you think. Stay positive, stay focused, visualize and believe you already have what you want - and it will come.

Let go, let go, let go!

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

I shared a little of my friend Diane’s current situation in my recent post, How to Get Your Mind Out of the Gutter, and I have an update!

In one of Diane’s private emails to me more than a week ago, she mentioned that her husband was due for a big promotion in the next 1-2 years, but “maybe it will come through early or something . . .” She mentioned this very casually, and then we moved on to talk about other possibilities.

WELL - she and her husband recently got the news that it is indeed very likely that his promotion will be happening early!!! Nothing is written in stone yet so they’re just taking it a day at a time, but I was hopping up and down in my chair when she told me that! :-)

Do you see the beauty of the Law of Attraction in this experience? She wasn’t hooked on the possibility as a solution. She didn’t start plotting ways she could make it happen. She just considered the possibility and then let it go and let the universe work out the details. I love that! :-)

One of the most difficult things I’ve had to learn as I’ve begun to master conscious use of the Law of Attraction is LETTING GO.

I admit it; I’ve always been a bit of a control freak. ;-) Not just a control freak though - more like a MARTYR! My thoughts always sounded something like this: “It’s all up to me; no one will help me out, I have to help myself. No one else will give this the same attention and focus that I will, so I guess I have to do it myself. Other people are lucky, but not me. I have to work hard to get anywhere in life; it’s a fact I’ve come to accept. Oh, woe is me, woe is me…” LOL I’m joking on some of that, but not really! Overall, those are exactly the type of thoughts I’ve had for a large portion of my life.

And of course, with that type of focus, what do you think I experienced more often than not? Little help from the universe (or anyone else), and the need for me to do everything myself!

Even when I would set intentions and try to attract certain experiences or qualities into my life, I’d try to FORCE them to happen on my own by coming up with an elaborate plan - which almost never worked out the way I hoped.

Ah, but when I started learning how to ALLOW, the universe began working on my behalf. That doesn’t mean I never take action; I definitely do. But I take action when and how I feel PROMPTED to do so. If I don’t feel that inner nudge to move in a certain direction, then I simply wait patiently and KNOW that my desire is being formed and delivered by the universe.

In fact, I’m working on something pretty exciting right now. I’m attracting something that’s bigger than I’ve ever attempted before. I’m not going to say what it is quite yet, but I’ll share the details when it arrives. ;-) But this time I’m purposely NOT taking action. I’m visualizing every day, feeling the feelings of having it now, and waiting excitedly to see what the universe will do for me. And over the past couple of days I’ve been getting some really neat synchronicities popping up in my face - almost like the universe is saying, “I got your request and I’m working on it; keep visualizing!” Okey dokey!!! :-)

Anyway, my point is - letting go and allowing should be a VERY big part of anything you try to manifest. You’re not supposed to conceive a desire and then plot and plan possible ways YOU can make it happen on your own. There’s nothing wrong with doing that, really - but then you’re not using the Law of Attraction; you’re using the law of ACTION. Big difference.

P.S. I almost forgot to mention that Diane has other good things happening too! She’s decided to definitely move back to her true love, writing - and she’s already getting offers of jobs and other opportunities. She and I are even going to collaborate on a project very soon. Needless to say, I think she’s moving in the right direction and taking ALL of the right steps to make her lost job seem like a teeny, inconsequential blip on the radar of her life! You go, Diane! :-)

A funny thing happened when I attracted . . .

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Oh, the irony of the Law of Attraction! LOL :-)

A couple of days ago I was thinking about my ebooks, and considering re-writing them, or maybe expanding them, or maybe even re-working them into full-blown step-by-step courses.

I get a fair number of emails from people telling me that the books helped them, that I explain everything very simply and they finally “get it.” That’s great to hear! But then I also get emails from people who still experience a disconnect. They’re not sure how to go about attracting something they want, or “fixing” the problems they’re currently dealing with.

So, of course, those kinds of emails always make me doubt my work. Is it good enough? Is it helpful enough? Maybe I need to do more for my customers? (Probably most writers know exactly what I’m talking about with this whole self-doubt thing! :-) )

WELL - isn’t it funny the way the universe sometimes manifests these types of thoughts?

Today I got an email that made my mouth drop open. I’ll paraphrase:

“Hi, love your articles, love your site but I ordered your book and it didn’t come thru. Are you for real, or just another rip-off artist?”

YIKES!

I looked into this person’s order and saw that he paid with an e-check through Paypal. My shopping cart system is set up so that the download details aren’t sent until an e-check clears, which takes 3-5 business days through Paypal.

This has happened before too! The first few times, I sent the book out anyway because some people were so offended by having to wait. Trying to appease them, I sent the orders anyway. Can you guess the outcome? Their checks never cleared and they immediately stopped responding to my emails requesting payment.

In the big picture, I don’t care really. I figure if they’re so desperate to get something for free, they probably need the money more than I do. But since that happened, I no longer send out orders until e-checks have cleared. What’s that old saying, “Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.”

But to be accused of being a rip-off artist by this latest person, geez!

My point is, did my own self-doubt bring this on? Sure it did! I don’t feel like I’m ripping people off; no, it’s not that. I know my work is quality, and I put my heart and soul into those books. But my own doubts about my work (and maybe myself?) sure did contribute to the manifestation of this situation.

I think today I’m going to put on my super-critical glasses and re-read my books and take notes about any new ideas I get. Maybe I can come up with ways to improve these products and appease my perfectionistic side - or maybe I’ll be led in a whole new direction, who knows? :-)

Lesson learned: Never entertain negative thoughts about yourself, your work, your life or anything else - because they WILL find a way to manifest in your life! :-)

Ho’oponopono Basics

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Stephen from Adversity University blog posted some questions on my last Ho’oponopono post and I realized that I never did fully explain what Ho’oponopono is, did I? I meant to, but forgot. :-) So let me start with a quick overview and then I’ll answer his questions.

Ho’oponopono is an ancient method of “clearing” negative energy by reciting four simple phrases.

I’m sorry,
forgive me,
thank you,
I love you.

These phrases activate a “process of repentance, forgiveness, and transmutation.”

The premise is that we are each responsible for the creation of everything that exists in our world - not just our immediate surroundings, but in our entire world (universe, really). If it resides in our consciousness, we created it.

That means you’ve created everything you see, hear and experience - yes, even if you see it on the evening news, and even if it’s something that doesn’t affect you personally, such as problems and wars in other parts of the world.

I know that’s probably a stretch for many people to believe, but if you’re familiar with subjective reality concepts at all it will make more sense to you. Quantum exploration is also moving quickly in this direction as we realize the “holographic” nature of reality.

But even as far as basic LOA principles this makes a certain kind of sense. Nothing exists separately outside of us; it’s all a projection from within us. According to our thoughts, feelings and beliefs we form our outer world. That doesn’t mean it isn’t “real,” it’s definitely real, but the only reality we know is our own PERCEPTION of the things we see and experience. That’s real, but it’s also extremely malleable! ;-)

Anyway, according to Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len (co-author with Joe Vitale on the book Zero Limits), our own “cancerous thoughts” are what create negative outer experiences, even if we’re not aware of doing so. And we can’t heal those outer problems except by healing the part of ourselves that created them. As we heal that, everything outside heals too.

Quote from the book: “Dr. Hew Len explained, ‘Simply put, ho’oponopono means “to make right” or “to rectify an error.” Ho’o means “cause” in Hawaiian and ponopono means “perfection.” According to the ancient Hawaiians, error arises from thoughts that are tainted by painful memories from the past. Ho’oponopono offers a way to release the energy of these painful thoughts, or errors, which cause imbalance and disease.”

Through the use of Ho’oponopono we claim full responsibility for the thoughts that created these situations and “clear” the energy so we can return to a “zero state” - which means we’ve cleaned the slate and everything is possible.

Here’s how the phrases work:

I’m sorry, forgive me

When you say these words, you are in effect saying to the universe, “I’m sorry for creating this situation or experience in my universe. I may not even understand how I created it, but I know I did and I take full responsibility for it. Forgive me.”

Thank you

When you say “thank you,” you are saying, “Thank you for clearing the error and making it right again.” It’s very much a mind-set of surrender, like acknowledging that you can’t fix it on your own so you ask the universe, the Divine, to work on your behalf.

I love you

With these words you simply express your love, gratitude and appreciation for the universe, for your life, and for everything.

You can read more about the process at the Ho’oponopono website: www.hooponopono.org/ and Joe Vitale has a video on it too: drjoevitale.blogspot.com/ (It’s the second video down on the page, “15 Minute Miracle”)

Okay, now for Stephen’s questions!

Is there another source of information other than the book you suggested? I seem to remember printing the words from somewhere but can’t figure out where.

When you decided to try it for money, how exactly did you do it? You recited “I’m sorry, forgive me, thank you, I love you.” Right?

What were you focused on when you were saying those words? Focused on money itself? Focused on the unexpected bill?

Did you consciously bring up emotions on purpose? If so, what did you bring up? Did you focus on your feelings of financial insecurity while chanting those words or did you focus on WHAT?

There is another source of information, which is the website listed above (www.hooponopono.org). The book Zero Limits explains it all much more completely, but there are some gems on the website too.

When I used this process for money, here’s exactly what I did. When I sat down to say the phrases, I had a mental image of my entire financial situation. I saw this unexpected bill as a blockage in the natural flow of abundance through my life. A blockage that I had created somehow. As I kept this image in mind, I started saying the words, “I’m sorry, forgive me, thank you, I love you” over and over again.

As I did so, I raised the corresponding emotions of regret, humility, surrender, gratitude, love and appreciation. If I had to pair words with those feelings, it was like I was communicating to the universe something like this: “I know I DID create this financial obstacle somehow. I know I’m fully responsible for its appearance in my life. I’m sorry for doing that even though I have no idea how I did it. I surrender this to you, Universe, and I thank you for setting it right again. I know you’ll set it right again, because abundance and peace is my natural state of being. Thank you so much for everything, for the love and support and guidance you constantly give me. Thank you for my life and all of the miracles in it.”

I didn’t so much think those words consciously, but that was the type of FEELING I brought up while I was saying the four phrases. A feeling of surrender and peace.

I didn’t focus on financial insecurity - just the opposite! I moved into a state of knowing that everything was being set right again, right NOW. Very peaceful, like knowing that all is well, even if I couldn’t yet see it.

Hope that makes sense! :-)

It’s difficult to put it into words. My suggestion would be to try it, even if you don’t understand how or why it works yet. Just go with it. When you see or experience something negative, say the phrases and bring up the emotions as best you can. You can do this with your own problems, but also when you see or hear about someone else’s problems. Take responsibility for them appearing in your life, and surrender them to the universe to be healed. Then watch what happens.

You might see only small changes at first, or you might see HUGE ones. Genuine miracles. :-)

I can tell you one thing. As far as my own experiences with this process, what seems to make the biggest difference in my results is how completely I can move myself into that state of surrender and peace. It’s one thing to say the phrases, but it’s a much more powerful experience to really FEEL them. See if that isn’t true for you too.

I’d be interested in hearing about your experiences if you try this, so feel free to share! :-)

Watch What You Say - The Universe is Listening!

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Jeannette Maw from the Good Vibe blog has a great post called, The Problem With Excuses that really got me thinking this morning.

She recounts the experience of turning down social invitations with the excuse that she has a big article deadline she has to meet, making it sound like it was a big struggle to finish it on time. And of course, the universe gave her exactly that experience - major problems in writing the article! :-) It’s a perfect example of being careful what you ask for, even if you’re not aware that you’re actually asking for it. The same thing has happened to me countless times and I’ve learned to watch my language carefully.

But Jeannette’s post also made me think of another kind of excuse that can be equally problematic. And those are the excuses we tell ourselves.

For years I used to tell myself (and anyone else who would listen) that I “can’t seem to get ahead” financially. Week after week I would pay my bills and have nothing left to put into savings. If I worked overtime and my paycheck was bigger than usual, an unexpected bill would show up so I broke even again. Rarely, if I did manage to set aside a few dollars here and there, it wouldn’t be long before some minor or major crisis required I use it.

While all this was going on, I would have mental conversations with myself and rail against the injustice of it all. Driving along in my car I’d be thinking, “I just don’t get it; it doesn’t matter how hard I work or how hard I try to set money aside, I just CAN’T GET AHEAD!” Of course, the universe was saying, “I know, I know . . . it’s terrible, isn’t it?” HA! :-)

I did the same thing with my career: “I wish I could do what I love and write for a living, but it’s so HARD to get started . . .” (Universe: “Yes indeed, it’s very hard.”)

I did the same thing with my weight: “No matter how little I eat and how much I exercise, I just can’t seem to lose weight.” (Universe: “Yup.”)

:-)

You see where I’m going, don’t you?

What kind of excuses do you constantly tell yourself?

That you can’t be successful “because” . . .

That you can’t make more money “because” . . .

That you can’t meet the love of your life “because” . . .

As Jeannette said in her insightful blog post, the universe hears excuses as INSTRUCTIONS. Man, truer words were never spoken! (or written)

Once you start exploring this, I think you’ll be shocked when you realize how many wonderful things you’re blocking with excuses. And once you’ve identified your excuses, it’s a simple matter to turn them around. Instead of having mental conversations about how hard things are or how impossible something is, you can say things like:

“I just couldn’t believe how easy it was to get what I wanted! Once I stopped with the excuses, the floodgates opened and great things happened!”

“It feels so good to put money in my savings account and I’m amazed at the way my finances seem to adjust themselves so I can do it week after week.”

“Losing weight became really easy and natural once I started loving myself completely.”

Excuses don’t always have to be BAD - they can be GOOD too! Have you ever heard someone say, “I must have a great metabolism; I can eat all I want and I don’t gain weight”? Likewise, you may have heard others say (or said it yourself), “My metabolism must be really slow; I hardly eat and I still gain weight.” Those are both excuses that are constantly being reinforced in the mind of the believer.

When it comes right down to it, an excuse is nothing more than a storyline. It’s something you tell yourself (and others) over and over again, and eventually it becomes true.

That’s really good news! :-) Change your storyline and you change your reality.

Go ahead, take a few minutes to think about your own excuses and then replace them with a more empowering or positive excuse. “I don’t know how I won ten million dollars in the lottery, the numbers just came to me. I’m just very lucky, I guess!” LOL :-D
