If you’ve been working with the Law of Attraction for any length of time, you’re probably well versed in the importance of thinking and feeling positively as often as possible. However, you may not already be aware of the ways in which certain emotions can supercharge the power of your efforts!
Remember that the Law of Attraction is activated by your thoughts, emotions and beliefs. Emotion in particular is what provides the “fuel” for your desires.
If you’ve been experiencing lackluster results from your attraction efforts, give them a boost with the use of these 3 powerful emotions:
1) Joy.
Joy is one of the highest frequency emotions because it puts you into a state of near bliss. When you feel joyful, your heart is soaring, your spirits are lifted and you are emitting a blast of positive energy like you wouldn’t believe! The universe, of course, receives your “joy signal” and immediately begins shifting circumstances in your life to make room for more things that will bring you joy.
Practice sitting in a state of joy at least once a day. You can read or watch something that makes you feel joyful, or simply think of something and visualize it until you’ve got those powerful emotions flowing.
2) Gratitude.
Gratitude is another strong, positive emotion. Not quite as strong as joy, but still very good. Most importantly, gratitude puts you immediately into a state of allowing because you’re focusing only on abundance.
Make a daily habit of feeling grateful and appreciative of everything you have, see, and experience in your daily activities. You can be grateful for the blessings in your life, but also for the kind people you meet, the beautiful sunrise while you’re out taking a walk before work, or anything else that brings a smile to your lips.
3) Passion.
Yet another power-booster for the Law of Attraction, passion thrusts you into a state of feel-good that won’t allow any negativity or lack to intrude. This can apply to both romantic passion, or emotional passion like you would experience from doing something you really enjoy.
Make time for passion in your life every day. Indulge in fun hobbies, rich foods, beautiful artwork and music, and anything else that stirs your passion.
These 3 emotions alone can inspire impressive change in your life, but also be sure to make room for others like love, peacefulness, harmony, humor and serenity. All positive emotions have the power to turn you into a strong magnet for everything you desire!

By now you’ve probably heard about this book and Oprah’s online class with the author. But I figured I’d mention it in case you’ve been hiding in a cave.
I’ve been reading this book slowly, and it’s fantastic. The way I ended up reading it is funny because I really had no interest in it from the beginning. I didn’t feel any compulsion to read it or take the class. But over the next few weeks I started to get the distinct feeling that I was being prodded to read it because it kept popping up at me wherever I went, both online and off. Still, I kept ignoring those prompts because I didn’t feel that spark of interest.
Then one day I visited my local Borders bookstore for a few books on unrelated topics. What did I see when I first walk in the door? A big display of Tolle’s book.
Stubbornly, I walked past the display and browsed through another section. Once I found the books I wanted, I turned around and began heading toward the checkout counter - and nearly knocked over ANOTHER display of these books!
*SIGH* I know when the universe is trying to tell me to do something.
Admitting defeat, I added one of the books to the stack I was carrying and continued to the checkout.
Even after I got the book home, I had to push myself to begin reading it. I had a hard time concentrating on it at first but by the time I was a few pages in, I was captivated. It’s very, very good.
What is it about? As the title claims, it’s about awakening to your life’s purpose, but it goes much deeper than that. It’s about transcending the ego mind and living from Presence. The essence of who you are. Spiritual consciousness.
It’s not for everyone. In fact, Tolle says as much at the beginning of the book:
“…This book itself is a transformational device that has come out of the arising new consciousness. The ideas and concepts presented here may be important, but they are secondary. They are no more than signposts pointing toward awakening. As you read, a shift takes place within you. This book’s main purpose is not to add new information or beliefs to your mind or to try to convince you of anything, but to bring about a shift in consciousness, that is to say, to awaken.
In that sense, this book is not ‘interesting.’ Interesting means you can keep your distance, play around with ideas and concepts in your mind, agree or disagree. This book is about you. It will change your state of consciousness or it will be meaningless. It can only awaken those who are ready. Not everyone is ready yet, but many are…”
I guess I was ready because I have definitely felt a shift taking place within me as I read the book. Much of it echoes things I’ve learned over the past 15+ years in my spiritual studies, but some of it is new to me too. I think this book is going to make a positive difference in the world. But even on a smaller scale, it can help you to feel more peaceful and happy in your own life too.
You can read more about the book or buy it here, and you can sign up for the free web class at Oprah.com. The class starts tonight and will run live every Monday at 9pm EST, but even if you can’t attend at that time you’ll be able to play the video web casts whenever you like. I’m looking forward to it, maybe I’ll see you there?
P.S. What did you think of Oprah’s Big Give show last night? I thought it was pretty good, I definitely shed a few tears. But I also think it will get a lot better as the contestants get more comfortable giving big. They were just getting their feet wet.

I came across a great quote that stirred me up this morning:
“There is a giant asleep within every man. When that giant awakens, miracles happen.” Frederick Faust
We tend to think of ourselves in very limited ways sometimes. Besides forgetting the immense power that each of us has, we also tend to forget our wisdom and live our lives in a fog of forgetfulness.
We play small and try to content ourselves with small lives, not realizing we can do better. Much better!
In fact, I’m a strong believer that if we could see our TRUE potential, it would boggle our minds. We just wouldn’t be able to believe it, it would be so huge.
That’s okay; let’s start on a smaller scale, shall we?
Start by believing that there is a giant slumbering within you. Your giant is wise, creative, passionate, and powerful. Your giant embodies the best parts of you and yearns to share them with the world.
Awaken your giant by refusing to play small any longer! Stand taller than you’ve ever stood before. Reach higher than you’ve ever reached before. Stomp your fears into dust beneath your feet, and take giant, thundering steps toward creating your ideal life.
“Awakening your giant” is all about believing that YOU are the giant. You are!

I was reading an interesting discussion in a business forum recently that debated whether it was better for a person to take a giant leap or baby-step their way into starting a business.
Many people had a strong belief that a person needs a fire under their butt in order to really succeed, and a leap of faith is the only way to force themselves to do it. Others felt that such rash action would be sheer suicide, leading only to financial ruin and regret.
I couldn’t help applying these concepts to ANY goal we have in life, whether business or personal.
I’ve written on both topics; taking baby-steps to the achievement of a goal, as well as the benefits of taking a giant leap of faith toward your dreams.
In fact, I’ve DONE both of those myself at various times! I’ve had my rear burned by the “fire of urgent necessity,” and I’ve also taken a more moderate, gentle approach to creating what I wanted.
Which is better?
I think it depends on one single factor: how prepared you are.
In order to take a leap of faith, you really HAVE to have some kind of preparation under your belt. You have to have gone through a bit of a learning curve and gained the skills you’ll need to succeed. Once you have those skills and you’ve prepared as much as you can, there is nothing left to do but leap and pray your parachute opens.
Taking a leap of faith before you’ve laid a solid foundation of knowledge and skills can thrust you quickly into a level of intensity that you won’t be ready for. Then, one of two things will likely happen:
1) You’ll develop the skills out of sheer desperate need to save your butt, or -
2) You’ll fail.
Failing is not such a bad thing, believe it or not. Put it this way:
You’ll learn more from one failed attempt than you would from a lifetime of never trying at all.
The hardest part is knowing whether you’re REALLY ready to take a leap of faith - or if it’s just wishful thinking.
There have been times when I took a leap of faith fully believing I was ready, but I was far from ready. And yes, I failed. I wanted to be ready. I desperately wanted to begin living my life purpose and I convinced myself I was ready - but I wasn’t finished developing the skills I would use later.
As I look back now, I can see that everything I’ve done in the past has led me surely to this point in my life. All of the jobs I hated so passionately but felt trapped by have given me the skills I use every day now. The past couple of decades have been one long lesson that prepared me for what I’m doing now. You can probably see a similar progression in your own life and work - how even the things you didn’t enjoy taught you something valuable.
If you are not yet doing what you believe to be your life purpose; if you are not yet living your heart’s desires and you are tempted to take a leap of faith but not sure if you are really ready, let me offer this advice:
When the time is right for you to move forward, you’ll feel it in your gut. In your heart. Way down deep in your bones.
You’ll reach a point where doing anything BUT your life’s calling will be unthinkable. You’ll be completely out of options and unwilling to settle for anything less than what you truly want - no matter HOW DIFFICULT it might be to achieve it, and you’ll be willing to go through the fire of urgent necessity to make it to the other side. Even if it means you have to fail a few times before you get there.
The truth is, there is no right or wrong way to your heart’s desire. Some people MUST take the leap of faith because they just won’t do it otherwise. Other people shudder at the thought of such a drastic move and prefer to move slowly and steadily toward what they want.
Do what your heart says you should do, and you can’t go wrong.

If you are still talking about what you did yesterday, you haven’t done much today. - Author Unknown
As you can probably tell from my recent burst of activity, I’ve got some new goals in mind. They’re not even “new” goals really, just re-defined, re-clarified, and jumpstarted again.
If you’ve never done this before, it is a POWERFUL, INVIGORATING process.
It’s easy to forget that our goals should be growing and evolving just as we do. Just like we are a work in progress, so are the dreams we carry in our hearts!
When was the last time you re-evaluated your goals?
Are you still working toward goals you set years ago?
Are you struggling to feel motivated about your goals?
Or are you still basking in the glow of past achievements?
As wonderful as previous accomplishments may make you feel, they cannot compare to what you are capable of TODAY.
Instead of looking back and saying, “I did that,” look forward and ask, “What will I do next?”
Let your goals grow and evolve along with you. Let every achievement fill you with more confidence and motivation so you can accomplish even greater things.
Here is your mission for today, should you choose to accept it:
Grab a notebook and pen and jot down your immediate and long-term goals. What would you like to achieve in the near future? Where do you see yourself a few years from now?
Be specific! Don’t just write, “I’d like to have more money.” How much money? How? When? Doing what?
Get as clear as you can about what you REALLY want (not just what you’re willing to settle for), and then write it down.
You can do this for any and all areas of your life, but start with the ones that matter most to you, the ones that would get you most excited.
Then, for each specific goal on your list, come up with a few clear action steps that you can take right now to get you moving in that direction. They don’t have to be massive action steps, just clear and focused. Don’t worry about forming a full-blown plan - just focus on your next step, and the next one after that.
Immerse yourself in the process of growth and evolvement, and make sure you take time to enjoy the journey.
Go through this evaulation process every few months. Are you still on track? Have your objectives changed? Re-define, re-clarify, and jumpstart your goals frequently.
It’s one sure way to stay motivated and focused as you turn your life into a dream come true.
Go to it!

A new (yet all-too-familiar) problem has reared its ugly head in my life: Not-enough-time-itis.
I’m one of those people that gets all fired up when I’m working on something I really love. That includes my site(s), blog(s), information products…not to mention my “regular work”.
One thing I keep learning the hard way: there must be balance. I cannot work 14 hours a day and still expect to have clear focus and abundant motivation. I cannot do everything at once, no matter how badly I might want to.
The solution seems easy enough: focus on one thing until it’s finished, then move on to something else. HA! Easier said than done. First, many of my projects and jobs have no “finish” point. They are ongoing. These are things I’m very passionate about, and I don’t want them to have an ending. Then there are the things that DO have an ending, but I struggle to squeeze them in with all the other stuff I do regularly.
Ah, I just uttered a key word there: squeeze.
How much cr@p can you s-q-u-e-e-z-e into a bag before it bursts? And how much pressure builds up before it really does burst? Do I really want to live my life under that kind of pressure? NO!
So, the answer is clear: simplify.
It’s a matter of focusing on what I TRULY LOVE most of the time, and minimizing the rest so that it becomes more manageable. That doesn’t mean I have to completely give up on the extra stuff; I just need to clarify what is most important to me and act accordingly most of the time.
Another important answer: lower expectations.
I’ve noticed something interesting about myself. I just can’t wait to see the end result of whatever I’m working on, so I go full steam ahead and can’t even enjoy it because I’m too burned out!
There is no joy in finishing if you can’t enjoy the journey. I need to keep in mind the benefits of moderation, and stick to a slower pace. The finish line will still be there, even if I pause to admire the scenery along the way!
So - the point of this blog is: have you lost your sense of direction? Do you have goals you are working toward but keep finding yourself tied up in knots in the process? Or have you completely lost your sense of direction and don’t even know where you want to go?
Do these 3 things:
1) Breathe. Pause for a few moments and get your bearings.
2) Clarify. What do you REALLY want? Where do you want to go?
3) Simplify. Choose a few key action steps that will move you in the direction of what you want. Don’t try to do it all overnight. Don’t try to force yourself to stick to an unreasonable schedule. Just move one step at a time toward what you want.
Feel better? I do.
P.S. I’ve just finished adding some new e-courses and ebooks to Wings for the Heart.
There are 2 new ebooks, one on the Law of Attraction and one on Goal-Setting. Both of them are very good! Get them here: Free Motivational Ebooks
I’ve also added 4 new e-courses (totally free!). One each on the Law of Attraction, Aging, Manifesting Your Heart’s Desire, and Time Management. See them here: Free Email Courses
I guess it’s true that happiness is doing what you love. After spending a few hours reading these ebooks and exploring the e-courses, I really DO feel better. Like I’ve gotten back on track somehow - but in a much more gentle, peaceful way. YES…

Once in awhile, a film comes along that opens your eyes in powerful ways. For me, the most recent movie to do this was “Cinderella Man.” If you haven’t seen it yet, I’ll give a quick overview without giving away anything important to the story line.
James J. Braddock was a boxer in the 1920’s and 1930’s, during the Great Depression. With employment opportunities so limited during that era, boxing was the primary means for Mr. Braddock to provide for his wife and three children. But even that was touch and go, and he had several difficult years just struggling to survive.
After a streak of bad luck, he was given a second chance to make a comeback, and he took full advantage of it, fighting with all he had. Yet, he still had moments when he faltered, when his confidence was threatened, and he had to remember exactly what he was fighting for.
During one poignant scene in the film, Braddock took a hard punch in the head and he was stunned for a few seconds. His strength began to wane, and he was on the verge of surrendering to his opponent — when suddenly he saw images in his mind of his wife and children going hungry, having no money to pay the bills, and he knew that losing wasn’t an option. He gathered his strength and will, and won the fight.
Later, during a press conference, a reporter asked him what changed his streak of bad luck and made his comeback so strong. James said softly, “This time I know what I’m fighting for.” When the reporter inquired about what that was, James said, “milk.” His family’s survival was a powerful motivator for him, as it would be for most of us.
This movie was incredibly inspiring for many reasons, but one major thing kept jumping out at me, and that’s the importance of having something worth fighting for. Isn’t it true that a certain level of comfort breeds complacency, while hardship ignites a fighting spirit?
Most of us are not fighting against a live opponent in the ring or economic depression. But our battles are still very real. The problem is that our opponents are less visible than Braddock’s were. Instead of a man with gloves, we fight against our fear, our doubts, our temptation to give up when it gets too hard. But if we have a strong goal in mind, something that’s vitally important to us, we will continue to fight for it. Giving up is simply not an option.
Think about the goals you’ve had in the past - the ones you didn’t achieve. Be honest with yourself about why you didn’t achieve them. Did you give up because you thought the battle was hopeless, or were those goals just not important enough to you?
I know that some of you still hold your unrealized dreams close to your heart. You haven’t totally given up on them, but you’re no longer actively working toward them. All I want to ask you is: are they worth fighting for? Even if the fight takes months, years, decades?
If you can answer yes to that question, I urge you to take up the battle again. Don’t worry about “how” you’ll achieve your goals, no matter how impossible they may seem. Just lace up those gloves and dance into the ring, letting your determination glow hot and bright. It just might be the key that unlocks the door to the future you dream of.

Even though the Thanksgiving holiday has passed here in the U.S., I still have this incredible sense of gratitude in my heart. I’ve been feeling this for some time actually, maybe the past month or so. Not only do I feel grateful for so many things in my life, I also have this odd sense of clarity and inner peace surrounding me. Why? I’m glad you asked.
I was giving it some thought earlier this morning. I think it’s because finally, for the first time in my life, I’m actually spending the majority of my time following my true purpose. For so many years, I avoided what I felt was my calling. There were many reasons, mostly fear, hesitation, and uncertainty. I wasn’t sure where or how to begin following my dreams. I had a vague idea of what they were, but I wouldn’t allow myself to get quiet enough to truly hear my inner wisdom. Once I did, once I REALLY tuned in and listened, I knew what I had to do. When I began following my own wisdom, everything changed instantly. Doors began opening. It was like the universe was smiling down on me, encouraging me to take another step, and another.
Maybe you find yourself now poised at the brink, not sure if you are courageous enough to leap? Are you standing at a crossroads, unsure which direction to take?
Simply turn inward and listen to the urgings of your heart. You already know what you’re supposed to be doing here on this earth. It was programmed into you before you even came here. Once you begin living your life on purpose, miracles will happen and you will be astounded by the joy and peace that fills your heart. You can do it, just take the first step.

From time to time, each of us will find ourselves in a rut of boredom and disinterest. We seem to lose our zest for life and feel tired, irritable and unmotivated. We want to hide under the covers rather than face the day. Perhaps you’re feeling overwhelmed by work, or sad about the pain and suffering in the world, or just bored with the routine of your daily life.
You are not alone. We all go through periods like this at some point. The good news is that we can do something about it. Here are some tips to help break out of the rut and feel excited about life again:
1) Take a “Time Out” - Prolonged stress can wear us down and zap any enthusiasm we once had. Before doing anything else, take a few minutes to breathe and just BE. Empty your mind of all stress and worry. This takes practice, but don’t give up! As thoughts come into your mind, gently push them back out and continue to keep your mind empty and calm. Take slow, deep breaths and let all of your muscles relax. Sit quietly and recharge your batteries. Try to do this daily, or even twice daily (morning and night). We need quiet time as much as we need anything else in life. Give yourself the gift of inner peace.
2) Get Inspired - Read something motivational, inspirational or uplifting. Look at some beautiful nature photos, or read something humorous. Consciously move your thoughts to a more positive place. Focusing on nothing but work and our daily tasks in life can leave us feeling pretty uninspired. It’s easy to turn it around if we want to. We just have to seek out things that will lift our spirits and our moods. Make it a point to laugh, be happy, joyful and lighthearted each day. Don’t wait for inspiration to come knocking on your door, go out and find it, or create it. Conjure up some funny or touching memories. Write them in a journal so you can go back and read them when you’re feeling down.
3) Get Excited - Think about the things you have planned for the day, and rekindle the enthusiasm you once felt for them. When we first begin a new project, or start a new job, we are excited about the possibilities and eager to get moving! Over time, we can lose that enthusiasm for a variety of reasons. Travel back in time for a moment, and think about what got you so excited at the beginning. What made your heart beat a little faster? Recapture that feeling and hang onto it! Even if your tasks aren’t anything to be really excited about, at least think of some positive benefits to doing them. For example, list the ways they will benefit your children, your spouse, yourself, your job or your home. Identify the payoff, and focus on that. Even mundane tasks have some benefits. Sometimes it’s just a matter of switching our mindset to see the positive side.
4) Baby Steps - Sometimes the hardest part is actually getting started. A project seems so monstrous that we cringe at the thought of all that time and energy we’ll have to expend. Instead of overwhelming yourself, start small. Set a timer for 15 minutes and just start working on it. Allow yourself to stop after 15 minutes if you really want to. But most often, once we actually start working on something, we won’t want to stop. Don’t focus on the big picture, look at the smaller details and take them on one at a time. Any large task seems manageable once we break it down into smaller steps.
5) Care of the Body - Sometimes our feelings of fatigue are caused by physical deficiencies, not mental. Be sure you are getting enough rest, eating food that nourishes your body, drinking enough water, getting enough exercise, etc. Especially when we’re very busy, we tend to grab the quickest, easiest meals, which aren’t always the best choice for our bodies. Eating a lot of highly processed foods and sugar is like putting watered-down gasoline into our cars. In order for our cars to run smoothly, we need to maintain them properly, and so it is with our bodies also. Remember, the body is the vehicle for the mind and soul!
Finally, remember to reward yourself from time to time, and be gentle with yourself! There will always be things that “need” to be done. But some of us take on way more than we can handle, and our lives turn into a pit of drudgery because of it. Try to eliminate the things that truly don’t bring you joy, or at least minimize the time you spend on them. Do what you can, and let the rest go. Or ask for help. Don’t feel you have to do everything yourself.
Remember that motivation, just like happiness, is something we CHOOSE. We may need to give ourselves a little push at the beginning, but once we get into the right mindset, it’s simple to stay there if we choose to.
