Did you happen to watch Oprah’s show Friday? I was mistaken, it was NOT a re-run. At first I thought it was the same show she did before with Louise Hay, Martha Beck and Cheryl Richardson — but I think this was actually a continuation of that initial show.
Anyway, it was good! I liked hearing about some of the successes people have had with the Law of Attraction. I also got a good laugh from Martha Beck while she was showing her vision board. She put two pictures of dogs on hers just because she thought they were cute - and she now has two dogs that look just like the ones on her board. She said, “Be VERY CAREFUL what you put on your vision board!” LOL
I also got a kick out of two little girls in the audience with their vision boards - one of them has a picture of Johhny Depp on her board because she wants to meet him. I half expected Oprah to bring Johnny out from the back to meet her but she didn’t. Maybe he was busy that day.
Anyway, great show!

I need to update it actually, there are a few things I still want to add to it. But for now I’ve got thirteen one-million dollar bills up there, a photo of a woman meditating in front of a buddhist statue (representing spirituality), a couple of sexy babes (not because I want to attract them, but because I want to look like them, LOL), my new car, our next dream home, a Thank You card I got from one of my newsletter subscribers, a $5000.00 check, and some key words like “Inspired,” “Financial Freedom,” “Passion,” and so on. (And yikes, I just noticed I have two pictures of dogs on mine too! One is a dog making a snow angel - that represents “playfulness”, and the other is a dog using the computer - representing “focus and fun”. Better be careful with those!)
I got an email the other day from a woman I’ll call Michelle. Michelle is dating a divorced man and things are going along great for them - but the problem is the man’s teenaged daughter, Kim.
Kim hates Michelle. Michelle was not the cause of Kim’s parents divorce, but she still hates her and wants nothing to do with her. Michelle does everything in her power to be friendly with Kim. She invites her over for gatherings and talks nicely to her when she sees her, but Kim just keeps pulling away. Michelle wanted to know if the Law of Attraction might help this situation.
Here was my response to her:
That is definitely a sticky situation! Part of the problem may be that she’s a teenager - don’t they hate everyone? LOL I’m kidding, but not really. That’s how I was as a teen, always looking for a reason to dislike someone or create drama in my life. (I wouldn’t have admitted it back then, of course - it was everyone else’s fault, not mine) Being a teen is a difficult stage of life; they are trying to figure out who they are and their place in the world. They’re under tremendous pressure in many ways, and that can bring up lots of feelings of anger which get directed all over the place. Then when you throw in family problems, like their parents getting divorced, it just makes it worse.
The good news is that this type of situation is PERFECT for using the Law of Attraction. Why? Because it’s a situation that you can do little about on a physical level. You’re doing as much as you can already by being nice to her, inviting her over, being patient with her, etc. That’s all great, keep doing that.
At the same time, however, begin visualizing the way you want things to be on a daily basis. Imagine all of you having great family outings and laughing and having fun together. Imagine you and her spending quality time together. Imagine the two of you being close friends. Mentally tell her the things you want her to know: how much you care for her father, how much you care for her, how much you want all of you to be happy. Tell her you love her and imagine hugging her and letting her know that you are there for her.
Do this every day. But don’t try to force any of it to happen on a physical level. Let her come around on her own. Continue to reach out to her, but don’t push.
I think you’ll be surprised at how well this can work!
And this same technique can be used to heal any kind of relationship! I remember years ago I worked with a woman and there seemed to be tension between us from the first day we met. I didn’t even know why but we seemed to have a strong dislike for each other for no apparent reason. I used the above technique and began visualizing us being friendly, laughing and joking during the course of the work day. Before long, I found myself smiling warmly at her and saying “Good morning” when I saw her at work, and she slowly began responding in the same spirit. Within a couple of months, the tension had completely dissolved. We didn’t become best friends or anything, but there was definite harmony between us. No more awkwardness.
So try this with your boyfriend’s daughter and see what happens. And report back to me, I’d love to hear about your progress!
If you are working with the Law of Attraction but having less than stellar results, don’t fear! It’s very likely that you need only tweak what you’re doing in order to become successful. Due to the nature of our current culture, our rat-race mentality, and our “logical” upbringing, there are some thinking habits we may need to override in order to be more successful. When addressed, it may be possible to go from absolute failure to powerful success with the Law of Attraction. Let’s look at a common mistake we make when using the Law of Attraction to manifest our desires.
It is important to understand this point. The universe will give you what you desire! Here’s where things get tricky. We are used to knowing that in order to buy our dream house, we need a lot of money. In order to lose weight, we need to change our eating habits. In order to get from here to there, we have to pass through the middle. This is where the Law of Attraction comes into play. The Law is responsible for handling the “HOW” in your manifestation. Only the end result, your desire itself, is what matters. It may come as a surprise then to find out that many people start by trying to manifest the “HOW” for their actual desire.
The Law of Attraction works by the power of your thoughts and emotions in making manifest your desires. Therefore, when you focus on your actual desire, you feel the emotions of excitement, happiness, expectancy, etc. These are what empower your intention and allow manifestation to occur. When focus is placed on the middle area, the stepping stone between where you are and where you truly want to be, it is very difficult to build the necessary emotions and energy to actually attract your target.
Therefore, by simply correcting the mistake of properly identifying your desires and not the stepping stones, you will become vastly more successful in your attempts.
The universe is made of vibrating energy. Anything is possible. It is not your concern to trouble over how it may be possible for something to happen. All you need to do is visualize your desire come to life. Feel the energy, daydream away, and allow your intent to magnetize your desire. Let the universe worry about how to make it happen – you focus on what you want to happen! The simplicity is such that we miss it. Our minds have difficulty adjusting to the need for focusing directly on the end result without any thought or worry over the in-between. Learn to overcome this weakness and you will succeed.
So to summarize, make sure that you identify your true desires, and that you are not in fact trying to manifest a stepping stone. The shift to working on your actual desire, no matter how far fetched it might seem, will allow you to generate the necessary energy to manifest it into being. The universe will then find a way to make it occur, and it will manifest for you. The more detached you remain from the means, the more quickly and easily the ends will manifest. Good luck!
One of the greatest gifts we receive as deliberate creators is an awakening to our true power to choose our life experiences day to day. Most of us are used to living our lives in response to the things we see and experience in our external surroundings. When everything moves along smoothly for us, we feel good. When things go wrong, we feel bad. We are constantly on a roller coaster of up and down emotions. In other words, we tend to take a passive role in our daily lives, rather than a proactive one.
However, the more we study and apply the Law of Attraction consciously in our lives, the more we realize that our outer experiences are simply the RESULT of what we’ve been thinking and feeling.
For most of my early life, I remember wondering why life had to be so HARD all the time. Everything was a struggle for me. I faced constant obstacles no matter what I was trying to accomplish, and things rarely worked out like I wanted them to. I remember writing in my diary that I felt like everything was an uphill climb for me, and I wondered if I had been born under the influence some mysterious “curse” or something!
Looking back now, I can see so clearly that I was creating ALL of it. Every day I awoke with a sense of defeat in my heart, “knowing” that things wouldn’t work out for me that day. I envisioned all of the challenges I would probably have to face that day. I dreaded trying new things because I “knew” they would be difficult. I dreaded meeting new people because I “knew” they probably wouldn’t like me. (Do you see a pattern here? *grin*)
Of course, all of those expectations became self-fulfilling prophecies. I was born under the influence of a curse all right - one of my own making! It’s called Negativity.
My life today is so very different. I’m surrounded by miracles. Everything goes smoothly for me. Things work out the way I want them to. I’ve become one of those “lucky” people that receive great opportunities without having to lift a finger. I’m happy, healthy and prosperous.
What changed? MY FOCUS.
I finally awakened to the fact that I had the power to CHOOSE the experiences of my life. I finally realized that I’ve been choosing all along. So have you. We all have.
Since you are reading this article, you are probably familiar with the basics of the Law of Attraction. Perhaps you’ve even had some success using it in your own life. But if you still haven’t fully awakened to your power to consciously choose your day to day experiences, here are three powerful ways to get started doing so:
1) Expect the best, always.
When you awaken each day, think about the things you want to experience that day, and mentally live them as though they are happening now. Want to win the lottery? Visualize it! Want to meet some fun new friends? Visualize it! Want to receive a raise or promotion at work? Visualize it! There are NO LIMITS to the amazing “mind movies” you can create. As you visualize these wonderful things happening to you, you are actually shifting your vibrational frequency and moving yourself into alignment with them - and with other great things that you haven’t even imagined yet. Try it, it is a powerful exercise!
2) Ditch the negativity.
Fear, worry, doubt and other negative words should be stricken from your vocabulary altogether. Not only should you discard the words - discard the emotions that come along with them! If you catch yourself feeling or thinking negatively, do anything you can to shift back into a positive state of mind. Visualize something wonderful again, or do something that makes you feel happy. Be grateful. Be inspired. Consciously choose to be happy. It takes practice, but the more you focus on the positive, the more you’ll find yourself naturally being positive with less effort.
3) Do only what you can.
Allow the universe to work on your behalf! If you are one of those people who feels like everything rides on your shoulders and it’s “all up to you,” let go of that thought as quickly as you can. Begin affirming daily that a loving universe is helping you, guiding you and smoothing the path before you. You don’t have to do everything yourself! Do what you can, and then turn over the rest to the universe. You don’t have to work yourself to death or figure everything out yourself.
There is more to using the Law of Attraction deliberately of course, but these three steps are powerful in their own right. Even if you made no other changes than these three, you’d still be astounded by the changes it will create in your life.
More than anything else, it’s important to know that you are not a victim. You are not a passive observer. You have the power to choose. And you can exercise that power beginning now.
Law of Attraction: Step by Step

I just had to share this because it’s a perfect demonstration of the power of visualization!
I mentioned recently that I’m in the process of attracting some pretty big things into my life (bigger than I’ve attempted before, anyway), and one of those things is a large sum of money to be used for specific purposes.
One of the things I’ve been doing religiously for the past couple of weeks is visualizing money coming to me in fun, unexpected ways - like a lottery win, among other things.
There are a lot of opposing viewpoints on whether it’s possible to use the Law of Attraction to win the lottery. Some people say you can’t do it because that would be restricting the universe on “how” abundance will come into your life. Other people believe that you can manifest a lottery win as easily as anything else. My own viewpoint falls in between those two, but I’ll go into that in a moment.
First, back to my story. The most I’ve ever won in the lottery was $100, about 18 years ago. My grandmother bought me an instant scratch ticket for my birthday, and it was a $100 winner. Since that time, I’ve won only small amounts here and there, anywhere from $1.00 to $15.00 at a time. (In fact, I laugh about that because somewhere along the way I developed a belief that “I never win much on lottery tickets…” — it’s not too surprising that I rarely won more than a few bucks at a time then! )
WELL, ever since I set this new intention to attract a larger sum into my life a couple weeks ago, I’ve been visualizing myself winning a large sum of money in the lottery. Sometimes I visualize winning a big jackpot in the twice weekly drawings, and sometimes I see myself winning on a scratch ticket. I don’t focus on the dollar amount specifically, I just see myself whooping and hollering with excitement as I win, and get myself into that feeling place of excitement and joy. (It’s a ton of fun, try it! )
Yesterday when I stopped at the store, I felt drawn to a specific scratch ticket that was hanging on the rack behind the clerk. It cost $10, but I remembered that I had a $5.00 winner in my purse from the last time I bought tickets. So I decided “what the heck,” and I turned in my $5 ticket plus another $5 and bought the ticket that was calling my name. YES, it was a winner! I started scratching it when I got home, and was thrilled to see I had won $50.00!
But I wasn’t done scratching yet. I kept going and revealed another spot that was a $50.00 winner. Then another. Then ANOTHER!
Yes, this ticket was a $200.00 winner! That’s less than the full amount I’m in the process of attracting - but I was overjoyed because this ticket was confirmation that my visualizations are WORKING. I swear, it felt like the universe was sending me a Happy Gram to keep me focused until the full amount manifests - and I know it will!
So if you have ever doubted that it’s possible to attract a lottery win, take this as direct confirmation that it IS POSSIBLE.
However, I want to point out a couple of important things here:
1) First, I’m not ONLY visualizing money coming to me through the lottery. I’m not “stuck” on the lottery alone, and I think that’s very important.
Sometimes we get it into our heads that there is only one way to accomplish something, when the universe actually has limitless resources to draw on. So, even though I won this smaller amount, it doesn’t mean that the bigger sum will come through the lottery too. It could, but it might also come in other ways. In fact, it might come in smaller increments the whole way! Anything is possible.
So, if you want to visualize winning the lottery, it’s okay to do that - but also visualize other possibilities, and be OPEN to other possibilities, even if you can’t imagine what they might be. In addition to lottery wins, I’ve been visualizing my business income increasing, unexpected gifts and opportunities coming my way, and more. But I don’t get STUCK on any one way. Do the same thing and you’ll be open to many, many possibilities!
2) Also, I think it’s VERY IMPORTANT to enter into the visualizations with the right intent. In this recent post, I shared a little bit about what Abraham says about the power of pure thought vs. physical action.
If you watched the video, you may also remember them saying: “Sometimes our friends will say, ‘Well here I stand, while this is where I would rather stand . . . oh, and Abraham has given us a process so that we can get from here to over here. I’m going to offer this visualization to get from here to over here.’ And what happens is, as you are offering any process to get from here to here, what happens is, you’re vibrating in both places. So you can’t move from where you are; nothing changes for you. So you can make much faster progress if you say, ‘I’m offering this visualization not to get from here to over here, but I’m offering this visualization for the pleasure of the visualization…’”
If you missed that, go back and watch the video again - it’s a powerful insight! I know in the past I’ve caught myself trying to . . . how do I say it - PUSH things to happen by infusing my visualizations with a lot of energy and intention. But when you do that from a standpoint of trying to DRAW something to you, you’re also reaffirming that you don’t yet have it!
In fact, remember what Dr. Joe Vitale said in the Secret movie? When you do visualization right, it’s such a HOLOGRAPHIC experience that you feel like you don’t even need what you’re trying to attract, because you feel like you ALREADY HAVE IT.
That’s the type of focus your visualizations need to have if they don’t already! That’s what I’ve been doing - just creating really fun, uplifting “mind movies” of myself winning money in the lottery, among other things. And it’s working. I’m seeing lots of evidence that I’m shifting into an ever-higher state of abundance and wealth attraction, and it’s totally effortless.

So YES, let this experience stand as a testimony that it IS possible to win the lottery by using the Law of Attraction. Of course, that will depend on whether YOU think it’s possible for yourself too.

I recently purchased an audio CD from Abraham-Hicks that is awesome! It’s on Money & Manifestation, and there was one part in particular that I found fascinating! And that is the concept of pure thought vs. action hours.
On the recording, a seminar participant asked Abraham about something she’s trying to create in her life, but she isn’t able to take much action on it because she’s got a lot of responsibilities (kids and whatnot). So she feels like she’s not getting where she wants to be fast enough.
In part of Abraham’s response, they said, “People will say to us, ‘I can’t just quit my job and go sit on the beach and meditate. Or I can’t stop what I’m doing and just imagine. I have children to feed or dishes to wash or things to do.’ And we say, we are not encouraging you to stop the action part of your life. We are encouraging that you act just a little bit less and that you envision just a little bit more.”
Then they went on to explain how much power there is in pure thought vs. the equivalent amount of action hours you would have to take to achieve the same burst of energy. It’s mind blowing!
Basically, 17 seconds of pure thought (meaning, no contradicting thoughts interrupting) is equivalent to 2000 action hours. So the results you could achieve by taking 2000 hours of focused action, you can also achieve with 17 seconds of pure thought.
But it gets better! Because energy attracts like energy, that first 17 seconds of pure thought will attract another thought of the same vibrational equivalent. And when those two thoughts come together, there is an explosion of energy that multiplies the effect times 10.
Equivalent = 20,000 action hours. The next 17 seconds, times 10 again = 200,000 action hours. On and on it goes!
Can you see why this is so powerful?
I’ve never heard this before. I don’t think it’s mentioned in the two Abraham books I have - or if it is, I completely missed it.
But it clears up something for me regarding physical action vs. visualization.
For most of my life I only knew how to create results through taking physical action. (Like most of us, I imagine!) I’d get an idea about something, work my butt off, and make it happen through sheer determination. And yes, I achieved some decent results doing that . . . sometimes.
Unfortunately, more often than not I would feel like I was on a treadmill. Taking action after action and not really getting where I wanted to be. And it’s so clear to me why! I was taking constant action, but at the same time I was emitting a contradictory vibration that prevented my desires from being manifested.
But THIS is why visualization is so powerful, because of the energy it generates. That doesn’t mean action is never necessary; of course sometimes it is. But the action is a complement to the energy you’ve already released through pure thought (visualization).
Anyway, I browsed around the Abraham-Hicks website this morning to try to find a written transcript of this audio, but I couldn’t find anything. But then I was led to one of their videos on YouTube, and that led me to another video and another - and suddenly I found a clip of that exact recording I just quoted above! Ask and you shall receive.
So here you go. Watch, absorb, and then go visualize your heart out!
Attracting the things you want can get confusing at times. Your emotions, beliefs and expectations all play a role in what you allow into your life - or don’t.
If you think your limiting beliefs or negative emotions might be hindering your ability to attract what you want, try this fun experiment:
Try swapping desires with a friend! Ask your friend to attract your desire on your behalf, and you can attract something for her or him.
Asking for something for another person can be extremely powerful because it is a completely selfless request! You don’t bring all of your own emotional baggage and limiting beliefs into the process to muck it up.
Here’s a good way to do this exercise.
First, both of you get a blank notebook or journal so you can keep track of what you’re doing. Get together with your friend and take a few moments to write a detailed description of your desire on the first page of your new notebook. Have your friend do the same in her or his notebook.
(You might want to try this with a simple desire at first, but you can always choose bigger goals later.)
Once you are both finished writing out your desires, put the date you started at the top of the page, and swap notebooks.
Then, both you and your friend will commit to meditating on each other’s desires for a minimum of 15 minutes per day. During those 15-minute sessions, you simply read your friend’s description of what he or she wants, and call up a mental image of them having it. You can either see them receiving it with pleasure and joy, or see them already having it and enjoying it each day.
Really focus on “flowing” feelings of love and happiness for your friend, wanting them to have their desires realized. Know that anything is possible for them, and believe that their wish will be granted. Your friend will be doing this same thing for you with your own desire.
Both of you will also focus on staying open to the possibilities each day, knowing that your friend is sending out plenty of great energy on your behalf. Simply affirm daily that your friend’s energy is working in your life, and you know that wonderful things are on the way to you because of it.
When good things do begin showing up, record them in your notebook.
You and your friend can continue to ask for bigger and better things with this exercise too! Start with something simple just to see how easily the process works, and go on from there.
